About Goldstick Studio

Goldstick Studio [formerly Goldstick Lighting Design, Ltd.] is a full-service firm specializing in architectural lighting design. Founded in 1999 by Karen Goldstick, the 26-year-old firm is now owned by partners Kalynn Amadio and Beth Turomsha. Our studio is rapidly growing and continually adding to a group of creative, agile, and enthusiastic designers who understand the importance of light in built and natural environments. Goldstick Studio prides itself on providing high-quality, responsive service that results in creative, workable, and reliable lighting designs. We are proud of the long-term relationships we have built with numerous clients to complete over 600 projects in the first 25 years of practicing architectural lighting design.

Our work includes interior and exterior spaces for – academic facilities, airports, corporate headquarters, medical facilities, lobbies, multi-family buildings, parks, retail, religious institutions, and hospitality spaces. Many GS lighting designs have received awards from GE, New York Construction, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the American Institute of Architects.

Goldstick Studio is located in Westchester County, NY, and is certified as a Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by the New York State Empire State Development Corporation, NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), NYC Small Business Services (SBS), Port Authority of NY and NJ, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Virginia Small Business & Supplier Diversity (SBSD).

Kalynn Amadio

Principal

Kalynn Amadio, IES is a Partner at Goldstick Studio. She holds a BS in Architectural Engineering with a concentration in electrical systems and lighting design. She has extensive project management and design experience over the past 38 years in a variety of projects in all categories of construction. Kalynn has designed  K-12 and higher education facilities, corporate headquarters, hotels, airports, hospitality spaces, custom fixtures, and multi-family residences.

As Managing Principal at GS, Kalynn is responsible for collaborating on the design vision and direction of design efforts during the production phases. She is instrumental in creating design details and navigating technical coordination of project concepts including custom fixture design, lighting controls, circuiting, and emergency lighting compliance. Kalynn also serves as our resident lighting engineer providing collaborative engineering support for the MEP team on a project-by-project basis.

Beth Turomsha

Beth Turomsha

Principal

Beth Turomsha is a Partner at Goldstick Studio.  She has extensive project and architectural lighting design experience over the past 20 years.  Before that, she worked as a theatrical lighting designer for 10 years.  Beth has design experience in every project sector with a bulk of that work in corporate interiors, academic and residential.  She believes close collaboration with architects and interior designers is essential, to create a holistic design approach to every space.

As a Principal at GS, she is active in business development, design development, concept presentation, production, and coordination with the architect and other design team members.

 

 

 

 

 

Tyrell Lundman

Associate

Tyrell Lundman is an Associate at Goldstick Studio. He has a Master of Architecture degree from City College of New York (CCNY).

Ty has extensive project and design experience with GS ranging from corporate interiors, academic facilities, custom fixture design, exterior lighting, hotels, multi-family highrises, and community centers. Included is design and detail work for six multi-family and mixed-use retail projects in the New York City area, retail spaces at the new LaGuardia Airport Central Terminal B, Chelsea Pier 60, academic auditoriums, and corporate headquarters in the Westchester, NY, and Fairfield, CT areas. He is instrumental in project management for GS.

As a project manager and Associate, Ty is active in design development, concept presentation, production, and coordination with the architect and other design team members.

Matt Hanson

Matthew Hanson

Designer

Matthew Hanson is a Master of Architecture graduate from CCNY. During his senior year of the master’s program, Matt joined GS as a junior designer. For his final semester, he completed a work-study program to hone his skills as a lighting designer.

Before joining GS, Matt worked on small-scale residential architectural projects, furniture design, and carpentry. He is versed in Revit, Autocad, Adobe Suite, and Rhino 3D. While at SVA, he focused on 3D printing, metal fabrication, and hand sculpting as his main focus. He actively assists the Goldstick team on various aviation, residential, and interior corporate space projects. Matt manages lighting manufacturer product resources and continuing education efforts for GS staff. He is integral to the ongoing management of projects during the construction process until the final punch list is issued.

Adrian Somm

Adrian Somm

Designer

Adrian Somm is a Designer at Goldstick Studio. His background in Fine Art and Industrial Design helps him work fluidly in many aspects of design where he applies diverse experiences to innovate solutions at GS. His detail-oriented approach and sensitivity to the client’s needs enable a collaborative approach to finding solutions that function and inspire. Never one to settle, Adrian has a passion for cutting-edge technologies and techniques that enhance both the results and efficiency of each project he works on.

In addition to lighting, Adrian has a passion for sound design and operates a hardware-based production studio. To unplug, he enjoys outdoor sports such as snowboarding, camping, and hiking as weekend pursuits.

 

 

Farnaz Hamedanchian

Farnaz Hamedanchian

Designer

Farnaz Hamedanchian is a Designer at Goldstick Studio. She received her MPS in Lighting Design from NYSID in 2012. She has a background education and work experience in the fields of Architecture and Interior Design. She has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects which include international airports, and municipal, commercial, and residential buildings.

Since 2012, Farnaz has worked in different areas of the field of lighting. She worked in the applications and engineering offices of Mark Lighting and Coronet Lighting. Farnaz gained an understanding of lighting fixture fabrication production, and produced technical submittal drawings coordinating specifications with designers. In addition to lighting, she has worked for firms specializing in both architecture and interior design. Her diverse work experience brings a unique perspective to the solutions GS crafts.

Lighting Controls

Services related to lighting controls vary per project based on the engineering team’s involvement. While GS provides a control intent document for all spaces that the engineering team can implement independently, GS can implement the control system for the project by adding the following services during the design development and contract document stages:
